EPA specialise in creating student pathways into higher education and professional careers in sport. Our long-term partnership with the West Ham United Foundation allows us to provide high quality training, coach education and worthwhile competitions that will maximise students’ opportunities to grow and develop their sporting CV’s.
West Ham United Foundation will deliver bespoke football-based projects for EPA where the service will aim to promote Coach Education and further developing our pathways to both higher education and professional sport through delivery of innovative and progressive football programmes.
The West Ham United Foundation run over 30 projects for members of the community across east London and Essex. By using the power of the West Ham United brand, they reach almost 50,000 people each year to help unite the community, respond to local needs and provide an environment where all can thrive. The programmes in Asia will aim to provide regular opportunities for participants to train with the West Ham United Foundation coaches. In addition, the partnership provides the opportunity for players based in South East Asia to visit London to attend the Foundation’s projects as well as playing regular fixtures against West Ham United Foundation’s teams.
The programmes in Asia will aim to provide regular opportunities for participants to train with the West Ham United Foundation coaches. The ultimate goal of the initiative is to develop the students both on and off the field using the ‘West Ham Way’ philosophy as well as promoting the history and traditions of West Ham United in South East Asia. One of the most exciting elements of the partnership is that together we will create a pathway for players to be monitored by the Foundation coaches increasing the possibility of an EPA/West Ham United Foundation participant progressing into the professional game.
The West Ham United Foundation provides top class FA qualified coaches alongside EPA’s outstanding coaching and education schemes, creating a first of its kind, unrivalled programme in the region.
A club steeped in history and tradition, West Ham United have produced players such as World Cup-winning captain Bobby Moore, Sir Geoff Hurst, Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand, Joe Cole, Mark Noble and Declan Rice who have all come through the Hammers’ ranks, with the east London club providing an inspirational setting to grow and thrive in whilst continuing their search for the next young stars of the future.
Kevin Tarrant, Managing Director at EPA and Tony Greensall, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with both the West Ham United Foundation and The Yang Foundation to build a fantastic programme that will lead to the region’s most talented players following a developmental pathway from the EPA/West Ham United Foundation programme either as a pathway into higher education through sports scholarships and a career in sport, or if talented enough all the way to the first team”
